Save a Copy of Your Email

Before You Start

Everything sent to your address lives in this mailbox, not anywhere else. These steps are for exporting it, including anything you sent from it.

After your subscription ends, your mailbox keeps working for 14 days. Export your mail during that time. After 14 days the mailbox is suspended, and 30 days after your subscription ends it is permanently deleted.

Copy It with a Mail App

  1. Install Thunderbird (free), or use Apple Mail, and add your address using the mail server settings on your account page.
  2. Wait for your folders to finish downloading.
  3. In Thunderbird, drag the folders you want to keep into Local Folders. In Apple Mail, drag them into On My Mac. Those copies stay on your computer after the mailbox is gone.
Note: There is no one-click export tool for this mailbox. Adding the account to a mail app and copying the folders locally, as above, is how to keep a copy.
